What is a ‘claims made’ insurance policy?Coverage on a ‘claims made’ policy is triggered if both a claim is made against a company and reported during the same policy period. The incident must be reported by the insured to the insurer or the claim must first be made against the insured by the third party, during the period of insurance, provided that the event giving rise to the claim occurred on or after the retro-active inception date of the policy. - Hoffman Business Insurance NOTE: The answers to coverage questions are primarily based on ISO forms generally used in Florida by most companies. However, please keep in mind that all companies’ forms are NOT necessarily the same. Some companies may provide broader coverage and some may be more restrictive. IN ALL CASES, THE CONSUMER MUST REFER TO HIS OR HER OWN POLICY FOR SPECIFIC COVERAGE INFORMATION.
