I am a renter, not a home owner. Do I need my own insurance or will the homeowners’ policy cover my personal property?
The home owner’s policy will not cover you; you would need your own renters’ insurance policy to protect your personal property and liability. This way the value of your property is covered and you’ll have coverage in the event someone is injured in the apartment or house you rent. The homeowners’ policy covers damage to the structure and the landlord’s property.
